March for Life 2014

Thanks so much for everyone who supported us and our team this year. This year we had a core group of 12 RFL’ers who helped us have a presence at not only the March for Life, but the Students for Life conference, the March for Life exhibit hall and the Geaux Forth youth conference. Our team was very blessed to be there, joining hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers from across the country to brave blizzard-like conditions to show our nation that we are the pro-life generation and we will do all we can to eliminate abortion from our land.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered, prayed for us and financially contributed to make this a huge success. If you are one who did financial contribute you are owed a Rock for Life merchandise product. Please comment below so we get you what you want in a timely manner.

Help send a RFLer to Washington, DC next week!

RFLMFL2014As most of you know next week is the annual March for Life, where hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers join to protest the US Supreme Court decisions Roe v Wade & Doe v Bolton that decriminalized abortion, allowing for abortion on demand, its legal protection and our financial contribution to it. Wednesday, January 23rd will mark the 41st “anniversary” of that horrific decision.

Most of you can’t attend but there is a way that you can help – by sponsoring a Rock for Lifer to be there in your place!

Click here to sponsor a RFLer

We want to have 12 Rock for Lifers there, in your place, not only Marching for Life but also to attend the Students for Life conference. This will be a great learning experience as they can learn from great pro-life leaders such as David Bereit, Kristan Hawkins, Jason Jones and many others. What a great opportunity to learn pro-life apologetics, starting pro-life groups, campus outreach and how to transform your community with revolutionary strategies!

In order to make this happen we need some help. We can do all of this for only $756.24! Twelve Rock for Lifers, 2 nights in a hotel room, 2.5 days in Washington DC, food, marching for life and attendance at the Students for Life conference. That’s only $63.02 each. You (and we) can’t beat this!

Would you be willing to invest in our future by getting a Rock for Lifer to DC next week?

A donation of $5 or more will get you a wristband or iPhone case of your choice.
A donation of $20 or more will get you a crew neck tshirt or tank top of your choice
A donation of $40 or more will get you a sweatshirt of your choice

Remember, each RFLer only needs $63.02 for food and lodging for 2.5 days!

Please prayerfully consider helping sending a Rock for Lifer to DC next week in your place. Help us to continue engaging culture with the “human rights for all” message. Help us to continue to raise up young people and young adults to not only be the pro-life leaders of tomorrow, but of today!

Thank you so much

My 10th March

The March for Life! The time when, contrary to the news coverage, there are hundreds of thousands of people who travel from all over to celebrate the growing pro-life movement as well as grieve together for the millions and millions of babies lost since Roe V Wade.  This year marked 40 years of Roe V. Wade.  Forty years of abortion equals 55 million babies…gone. It’s a difficult thing to stomach but being around so many fellow pro-lifers helps keep me from getting discouraged. It shows me that we are the pro-life generation and the abortion industry should be shaking in its boots.

This year was a special one for me.  It marks my 10th march in a row.  I’ve marched for 10 years in the cold D.C. streets with my fellow pro-lifers. It’s a milestone, in one way I wish I didn’t have to celebrate.  I wish abortion had ended by now.  But this milestone represents something else to me as well. It means I am a pro-life “lifer.”  I am committed to this cause.  It’s not just because I march because that would be silly.  No, it’s because every time I go back to DC and meet with my fellow activist-friends from all over the country (and the globe) we can share all the pro-life work we have done to dignify mothers and their babies that previous year.

And I wouldn’t be where I am without Rock for Life.

Rock for Life was the reason I was woken up to the horror of abortion.  Sure, I knew it was wrong.  But I hadn’t really thought about DOING anything.  Then this guy named Erik (El Director!) announced to my church that his organization would be hosting their Annual Training and Activism weekend.  We would be protesting and marching to bring awareness to the millions of babies who had been lost to abortion.  So I went and I will never be the same.  My eyes were opened to the horror of abortion and the hope that the pro-life movement could offer to women in crisis situations.  Women just like my birth mother.  It clicked with me.  I survived Roe V. Wade and therefore I could not think of any other place for me then to speak for the silenced unborn children.  It’s been 10 years since then and while I am grieved we lose 4,000 children everyday to abortion, I know I am making a difference.  Not just by marching but by being a pro-life ACT-ivist.  Rock for Life continues to give me an opportunity to speak out about human injustice and it gives me a link to others, my friends, my fellow activist, who want to make abortion unthinkable.

I will leave you with a question poised by Sophie Scholl, a young girl about my age who did what she could to speak out against the injustice of the Nazis who had taken over Germany, her country, “Are there still people today who never weary of directing all their thinking and all their energy, single-heartedly, to one cause?”

Sophie’s question applies to where we are today.  Many will say we are foolish for being so “pro-life.” Just remember that we must always be focused on this cause.  Join us.

March for Life Weekend wrap-up – Thank You for a successful weekend!

The March for Life Weekend for Rock For Life was amazing!  We had an amazing team of young people.  For some they’ve been here before and enjoy the weekend and the opportunities to serve.  For some it was their first time and were amazed and ready to come back next year.

Becca – This weekend was absolutely incredible, seeing the number of people of all ages, faith and walks of life who came together to stand for the rights of the unborn. I feel like God has great things in store for the pro-life movement this year, it will be great to see His impact.

Erik – I just want to thank everyone who gave! This weekend gave me an experience I could have never had without RFL. To see the impact that have on this generation is truly amazing!

Lisa – I’ve been volunteering with RFL for quite sometime and it was such an experience to volunteer yet again this year. I am so indebted to those who make that possible. They are truly a blessing and lives are being saved because of their support.

Nicole – Between RFL and SFLA they both create an amazing experience with supporting an awesome cause. Volunteering for Rock for Life was exciting and exhausting but it is all worth. So much hard work has gone into helping save lives! They do a wonderful job with everything.

Caleb – It was an awesome trip, everyone had a good time, and worked really well together.

Alex – It was an amazing experience! It was incredible to see so many people stand up for something they believe in.

On Saturday and Sunday we helped Students for Life set up and tear down for their conference, which was amazing as always.  If you have never attended Students for Life’s annual conference, you need to do it.

Here at the conference we co-hosted a photo booth with Students for Life.  Nicole Eva Photography took some amazing photos at the booth and throughout the weekend.  Make sure to hire her, she is good!  Click here to view a photo album of the photo booth and click here to view a photo album of other photos from the weekend.

We also treated some attending the conference with a surprise performance by Rocky Loves Emily, an up-and-coming Tooth and Nail band.  These guys rocked the house.  Make sure to check them out here.

Rocky Loves Emily w/friends

The next morning our team helped Students for Life pass out thousands of their signs then we worked at launching, a collaborative effort between a number of pro-life organizations to get pro-lifers registered to vote AND getting young people pledging to vote for pro-life candidates.  A politician’s position on LIFE is the most important question to be considered when contemplating who to vote for.  If a politician doesn’t advocate human rights for all of us, born and preborn then whose rights will he or she consider stripping away if push came to shove?

So this is a big huge THANK YOU to all who had us in their thoughts, their prayers and also to those who sponsored a pro-life youth activist.  You guys made this happen for us, but more importantly for our Rock For Life team – 15 pro-life youth activists.  We were all so blessed and know that you have made a difference in many lives. THANK YOU!

Unfortunately our annual National Pro-Life Youth Rally had to go from an outside rally with speakers and band performances to a webcast.  Every once-in-a-while the March for Life is hit with rain.  This was the year.  It happens.  Next year we will be out there.

A big huge thanks to the artists who were going to play but no thanks to the rain we didn’t have a chance to see them perform 😦

Thank you for helping sponsor a pro-life youth activist

Last month I sent out a plea to help sponsor a pro-life youth activist for the March for Life / Rock for Life weekend. So many of you prayed for us and so many of you donated. I am so sorry I haven’t sent out a Thank You until now, but THANK YOU SO MUCH! Our hotel rooms got paid for and most spots were full. We had so many awesome young / younger pro-life activists staying with Rock for Life for the weekend and here’s what a few of them had to say:

  • Rebecca C – Thank you so much for your generous donation. Each dollar helped support the efforts of young pro-lifers. The weekend was so encouraging and inspiring and allowed us to contribute in small ways that could make a big difference. Thank you!
  • Peter H – The weekend in D.C. with Rock for life was awesome. Thank you so much for blessing us with your donation without it we would never have been able to be there and feel the power that the pro-life movement has.
  • Kaley P – I can’t thank you enough for your contribution! This weekend has been an amazing expeirence. It’s incredible what God can do in the hearts of thousands. Thank you!
  • Trai F – The opportunity to serve once again in the march, amongst other things blessed my heart, and I pray for more opportunities to serve in the future. Thank you so much for contributing. May God bless you sevenfold.

So again a big huge THANKS! Thank you for investing into young pro-lifers who are not just the future leaders of the pro-life movement, but the leaders TODAY!
