National Pro-Life Youth Podcast Announced

NEWS RELEASE – Media contact, Erik Whittington

Washington, DC (March 29, 2011) – Students for Life of America and Rock For Life have announced today a new, collaborative project – The National Pro-Life Youth Podcast.

“We are so excited to provide yet another tool for the Pro-Life Generation,” says Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America. “These podcasts are a great way for young people to get educated, equipped and stay in-tune with what’s going on and what other groups are doing to advance the cause for LIFE.”

We want young people to be excited to be pro-life and engage their campuses and communities to fight the greatest injustice our nation has ever seen – abortion,” says Erik Whittington, executive director of Rock For Life. “This podcast is going to be fun, showcase new and upcoming pro-life bands, musicians and songs and young people who are savings lives today!”

Kristan Hawkins, and Erik Whittington, both bring years of podcast recording experience to this new adventure. Kristan has been the host of “On Campus with Students for Life.” Her program focused on interviewing pro-life leaders on college campuses nationwide. Erik has been hosting the “Rock For Life Netcast” which has featured pro-life songs and interviews by various artists such as BarlowGirl, SONICFLOOd, Rebecca St. James and many others. Both programs were hosted by “National Pro-Life Radio.”

The show’s first guest is the “Tell Congress” Video Contest Winner who, for the very first time on YouTube shared her testimony of family abuse that was covered up by Planned Parenthood: three of her siblings were aborted and after years of abuse, her father was finally put behind bars.

The National Pro-Life Youth Podcast is a weekly show that can be found online at and on National Pro-Life Radio. Here you can download the shows and subscribe to the RSS feed through iTunes.

Los Angeles, Calif. “We are excited about this next phase in our ministry,” said Erik Whittington, executive director of Rock For Life.  “there have been many changes throughout the years with Rock For Life but one thing stays constant – We will fight for the human rights of preborn individuals through music, education and action.  Our work will not, and has not ever been suspended.  We have many things planned and look forward to announcing them throughout the summer.”

Rock for Life and American Life League separated ways on Thursday, May 20th, 2010 ending an 11 1/2 year relationship that has seen the pro-life youth movement grow tremendously during that time.  “We are thankful for the support American Life League has shown us throughout the years,” said Whittington.  “We wish them and all their staff the best as they work to defeat the culture of death in our country.”

Rock For Life began as a one-time concert event in the Fall of 1993 in Southern California to raise funds for a pregnancy help center and raise awareness regarding the travesty of abortion.  This event, hosted by Bryan Kemper – the Founder of Rock For Life and the current President of Stand True Ministries ended up being a huge success.  This event, under the guidance of Jeff White led to the official launch of Rock For Life as a legal entity. Following the success of the first concert including a story on MTV and a baby saved, Rock for Life launched several more concerts and joined the Lollapalooza tour through out the summer of 1994.

In January of 1995 Erik Whittington joined forces with Bryan Kemper at the March for Life in Washington, DC,.  Erik had been doing pro-life booths at concerts in Portland, OR while Bryan was starting Rock fort Life in Southern California; realizing that their work was so similar they decided to combine their life saving efforts.

“I too am excited about this new phase of ministry for Rock For Life,” said Bryan Kemper.  “Music is a powerful tool that Rock For Life has used successfully to raise awareness, raise funds and save babies from abortion.  I am looking forward to a renewed friendship and partnership between Rock For Life and Stand True Ministries.”

To celebrate this exciting change Rock For Life will be hosting a concert during the Survivors Pro-Life Boot Camp June 28th in Los Angeles, California. Stay tuned at as this exciting news is developing quickly.

Babies Grow Up, Give Concert in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 21 — Punk, Hardcore, alternative — all the Gen X favorites — descend on Washington this weekend for a Saturday night concert preceding the annual March for Life, marking the 27th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.

“Those first marches back in the 70s and early 80s were for us,” said RFL concert coordinator Erik Whittington. “We were the babies pro-lifers were trying to protect from being crushed up and sucked out. Thank you for caring — here we are!”

The January 22 concert features the Huntingtons, SaGoH 24/7 and Devoted Molded at the Crystal Forum at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, VA at 8 pm.

Fans say they’re using their voices now to speak for the one third of their generation — or more — who can’t make it to the concert because they’re dead — casualties of abortion.

The new “survivor culture” has been highlighted on the cover of Washington Post Magazine, the New York Times and a few hundred other publications throughout the country. Meanwhile, RFL founder Bryan Kemper is now a regular on ABC’s Politically Incorrect, where he exchanges rhetorical blows with PI host Bill Maher about the meaning of life and whether or not preborn children are simply “inanimate goo,” as Maher put it on one show.

“Chapter one — inanimate goo rises and walks,” says Kemper.

Kemper says RFL isn’t going away. The organization is committed to staying focused on its mission to educate Generation X — and the generation that follows — on the truth about abortion, contraception and the “culture of death” through music.

The concert sponsors ask only for a $5 dollar donation for admission.

RFL is sponsoring similar events this weekend in Pensacola, Florida and Elgin, Illinois.
